Marketing Manager, Hardware
Reports to Senior Manager, Merchandise Marketing
The Position
The Marketing Manager, Merchandise Marketing acts as the strategic lead for all portfolio marketing activities for the Hardware business unit. S/he is accountable for all strategic marketing input into the business lifecycle process as well as the development and implementation of their portfolio marketing strategies. He or she will facilitate the successful implementation of cross portfolio strategies aligned to customer segments & business priorities for this portfolio.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Merchandise Marketing, you will be responsible for:
Developing the strategic annual, season specific and monthly marketing plans for The Hardware category utilizing consumer insights, sound marketing strategies and business metrics
Managing all strategic marketing planning and implementation activities for a business portfolio including:
Input into business lifecycle activities
Develop & lead the implementation of category specific marketing plans
Incorporation of consumer research & metrics into upfront planning
Input into annual, seasonal and monthly marketing planning
Develop succinct, professional marketing briefs for all projects & lead cross functional partners in the implementation of marketing plans
Ensure strategies and marketing programs adhere to upfront plans and track to budget allocations
Deliver marketing ROI measures for their specific business portfolio strategies
Manage any direct core and over & above budgets for the portfolio
Ensuring timely and accurate input from merchandise marketing into the Annual Marketing Planning, Seasonal Marketing Planning & Post Mortems & Monthly Marketing Planning processes
Providing input into overall THD strategic marketing direction on behalf of portfolio business strategies
Leading cross functional marketing initiatives as required, from strategic planning through to leadership of cross functional implementation teams. This includes managing the flow of correct information & strategies from 360 business teams to functional teams’ implementation
Participating in merchant line reviews and strategic planning with vendors as required
Building and maintaining close working relationships with key business/marketing partners to understand and influence business & marketing strategies, priorities and direction so as to ensure business objectives are met
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of delivering results and executing with excellence. Specifically they will have:
5 years of relevant work experience: with 2+ years working with a major retailer as a Marketing Manager and therefore has Flyer experience, is used to building brands, can easily move between channels
Strong Marketing acumen with an “ROI” focus and business case experience
Multi-tasking and organization skills
Flexibility and ability to be objective no matter the task
Worked amongst senior merchants and buyers in a cross functional environment
A team-orientation with a strong positive attitude and a "guru-like" ability to quickly build strong relationship
Strong communication skills and networking abilities
Strong strategic, creative thinking and analytical skills
Ability to challenge and negotiate with partners where required while maintaining positive relationships
B Comm., MBA preferred
