Role Purpose
The Manager, Marketing Planning – Insurance will develop strategies and tactics to maximize overall marketing achievements in support of TDBFG Insurance business priorities. As a member of the Marketing Planning team, the successful candidate will represent the consumer, and link market research, customer information and marketing/customer strategies to develop and execute marketing plans for the TD Insurance business, a super growth area for TDBFG. This position will focus on supporting the Home and Auto Affinity Group Market insurance business and requires frequent travel to Montreal and occasional travel to other major Canadian cities.
Responsibilities
The Manager, Marketing Planning – TD Insurance will:
Provide strategic advice and direction to assigned key insurance business partners on marketing plans, customer strategies and/or special projects as assigned, ensuring alignment with TDBFG and TD Insurance’s brand strategy and insurance business specific goals
Build and maintain close working relationships with key business partners to understand and influence business strategies, priorities and direction, ensuring business objectives can be converted into effective marketing plans/customer strategies
Develop and champion a new annual marketing planning process to ensure marketing process and methodologies are aligned and designed to best support the affinity market group insurance business
Uncover the right mix of marketing strategies and tactics to drive TD Insurance affinity market group insurance business premium growth
Develop a new marketing testing strategy within the affinity market group insurance business, including development of innovative offers that will stimulate response and drive insurance quotes and policy sales
Implement rigorous reporting and analysis to assess campaign success
Ensure marketing campaigns and offers make most efficient use of available marketing dollars
Understand and represent the consumer/customer perspective, linking market research, customer information, product/service strategies and translating into achievable business results and/or profitable customer-centric programs
Identify cross-channel and cross-business synergies to enhance efficiencies and better serve affinity market group insurance business needs
Work closely with other marketing planning colleagues to ensure a best in class marketing approach
Other key areas of accountability will be:
Project Management:
Deliver, manage and execute Marketing Plans and customer-centric programs, using established processes, tracking key milestones and executing detailed and meaningful post implementation reviews
Ensure a high level of service by setting clear standards and communicating status regularly with respective insurance business partners and project team members
Manage on-going relationships with the affinity group insurance business and coordinate support from key internal marketing resources to ensure effective execution of marketing deliverables
Manage the annual affinity market group insurance business marketing budgets adjusting strategies and tactics when needed to ensure all groups across Canada meet target marketing objectives
Actively work to resolve escalated issues effectively and manage any changes within projects
Conduct project reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, ensuring budgets are reconciled, stated goals are achieved and learning is actionable, well-documented, and shared
Expert Knowledge:
Be recognized as an internal marketing expert and participate in strategic affinity market group insurance business initiatives where required
Keep abreast of emerging capabilities and/or consumer trends within the insurance industry
Understand and continuously refine regulatory expertise with respect to marketing of insurance products
Maintain an awareness of other departmental projects in order to effectively plan and integrate marketing activities
Teamwork and Leadership:
Act as a technical mentor in the planning and marketing field and contribute to a positive working environment
Build and maintain positive working relationships by effectively communicating and regularly sharing information, learning and knowledge with internal and external business partners
Contribute to people development within TD Insurance marketing team
Promote key achievements of the marketing group and share learning and demonstrate value across TDBFG and TD Insurance
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Our successful candidate will have/be:
Over 5 years in Consulting or Consumer, Financial Services or Insurance Marketing, with a strategic focus including experience developing business and marketing plans
Working knowledge of marketing strategies and a demonstrated ability to apply them
Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver actionable recommendations from analysis
Demonstrated abilities and strengths in impacting and influencing stakeholders
Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to handle ambiguity and willingness to build assumptions to solve problems
Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organization skills
Project management experience
A positive attitude and self-starter
Experience in management consulting and/or within other creative problem solving environments a strong asset
Experience in insurance industry and/or experience executing insurance marketing programs an added bonus
Bilingual would also be an asset
Compensation
Base depends upon the level of experience and is competitive
Target percentage is 12% of earnings (note: pro-rated on start date based on bank fiscal)
Possible multiplier for performance
4 weeks vacation
